Issuing of photo-ID cards commences in Brong-Ahafo

Sunyani (B/A), April 15, GNA – The issuing of photo-identification (ID) cards by the Electoral Commission to registered voters in Brong-Ahafo took off at 0700 hours on Wednesday but with a few problems including the malfunctioning of some of the cameras.
Work was going on at all the registration centres in Sunyani, which the GNA visited and at two centres at Penkwase Low Cost and Sacred Heart, all suburbs of the town, only a few voters were there at about 0900 hours to participate in the exercise.
Registration officials at three centres at Victoria Park in the city, had issued photo ID cards to many voters while at four centres at Twene Amanfo Secondary/Technical School, anxious voters were in queues for their turn at about 0940 hours.
A total of 579 people had taken their photographs and issued with their identity cards at the Rural Development Store, Rural Development Victoria Park IB and Baker Co-operative centres when GNA got there at about 1400 hours.
A total of 196 voters had been served at the Development Store, 227 at the Bakers Co-operative while 156 of them had gone through the process at the Rural Development Victoria Park 1B.
In some centres, the officials complained of inadequate supply of films by the Regional Office of the Electoral Commission, leading to temporary suspension of the exercise pending the supply of more films at some of the centres. Many voters left for their homes due to the development.
