WORDS OF CONDOLENCE FOR THE IUCG

The Islamic University College, Ghana, commiserates with the good people of the Arab Republic of Egypt on the deadly attack allegedly carried out by the Takfiri ISIS terrorist group on a Sufi Mosque in Egypt’s Sinai Province on Saturday, November 24, which left in its wake 305 people dead and many others injured.

We join all well-meaning individuals and organizations in condemning the attack without reservations.

This dastardly act on worshippers in the mosque is not only a violation of the sanctity of the house of God but it also threatens the core of human civilization and survival as it is an assault on our resolve and efforts aimed at fostering religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

The act further brings to the fore, yet again, our collective vulnerability as a people to terrorists who hold us, peoples of the world to ransom. Egypt has unfortunately been at the receiving end today, which country is next?

The hydra-headed nature of terrorism makes it difficult to defeat as a new one springs up whenever one head is cut off. In the war against terrorism, the world therefore needs to attack and stop the beating heart of terrorism (source of funding and access to weapons).

When the heads are starved of “blood”, the hydra dies naturally.

We therefore call for concerted efforts among world leaders to step up their determination to combat extremism in all its forms, without regards to political or religious considerations.

Together, we must all sing one chorus: never again must we allow terrorists to set the world on the course of destruction.

We pray for Allah’s mercy on the souls of the deceased. May He grant the injured speedy recovery, console the bereaved and may the people of Egypt come out of this tragedy more united and determined to prevail.

The Islamic University College, Ghana, sympathizes with you and share your grief. Please do accept our sincerest condolence.
