A final-year student of the Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi, known as Abass, has passed away after plunging from the upper floor of the school’s administration block on Tuesday, 18 November 2025.

His remains were laid to rest shortly after the incident, following Islamic burial rites.

According to some individuals within the school community, Abass had reportedly been battling thoughts of self-harm for a while, although school authorities were not aware of any such issues.

Abass, who studied Business and also served as the acting Boys’ Prefect, is said to have fallen during regular school hours. The incident immediately drew students and staff to the location.

He was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where medical personnel declared him dead upon arrival.

Relatives including his mother and uncle together with some students, later revealed that Abass had on earlier occasions made comments about harming himself. These statements, however, had been brushed off as jokes and not considered seriously.
