Isaac Osei to step down for Alan K?

The Daily Dispatch reports of a possibility of one of the five candidates in the NPP flag-bearership race, Mr. Isaac Osei, to step down and support the candidature of Mr. Alan Kyerematen to avoid competing on a common ground.

The paper says since Alan Kyerematen and Isaac Osei belonged, primarily, to the ex-President John Kufuor faction in the NPP, they would be splitting delegates votes from that faction at the August 7, 2010 Congress.

A credible source told The Daily Dispatch over the weekend, “Negotiations have begun on Mr. Osei stepping down to support Mr. Kyerematen’s candidature. It is at an early stage but so far, it looks promising.”

If Mr. Osei steps down and supports Mr. Kyerematen, it adds valuable delegates votes to his total number of votes. On the other hand, if Mr. Osei does not, what will be the impact on Mr. Kyerematen?
