Isaac Osei decries attempts to disrupt NPP campaign

Kumasi, Oct. 23, GNA – Mr. Isaac Osei, New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Subin constituency in Kumasi, on Thursday called on party supporters to be focused and remain resolute in their political activities as the party seeks to chalk a landslide victory in the 2008 election.

He said this was necessary since there was a systematic and a planned effort by some political opponents of the NPP to disrupt the party’s campaign through violence, vandalism and unprovoked verbal attacks on the NPP leadership.

“I am advising all well meaning NPP supporters to scrutinise the identity of those, especially non-party members who mingle with them as they embark on their campaigns since those people may have been planted amongst them to cause commotion to discredit and label the NPP as a violent party”, he told the party supporters. Mr. Osei, who is also the Chief Executive of the COCOBOD, said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Abura Printing Works, Publishers of “The Pioneer”, Ghana’s oldest independent newspaper, in Kumasi on Thursday.

He said the NPP believed in democracy and supporters should uphold these principles for the sustenance of peace in the Country. He commended “The Pioneer” for upholding the ethics of journalism in their reportage and urged them to continue with this to enhance the paper’s image. Mr. Johnson Gyampoh, Editor of “The Pioneer”, Mr Osei for the visit.
