Hohoe (V/R), June 19, GNA – Reverend Moses K. Buamah, Presbytery Chairman of the Hohoe branch of the Global Evangelical Church, on Sunday declared that it was unreligious for Christians to wish the death of their enemies.
He said it was blasphemous and unrighteous to seek the death of ones detractor but rather “seek God’s intervention for a change of heart of the common enemy”.
Rev. Buamah, who made the declaration in a sermon christened “Running the Christian Race Faithfully-Sowing the Seed of Faith” to end a three-day youth programme of the Church at Hohoe in the Volta Region, said the seed of faith should transform and permeate all societal endeavours, including attitude to work and nationhood. He exhorted the youth to abstain from sexual escapades, since the sin of immorality was equated to witchery and wizardry, which demanded capital punishment in the olden days.
Rev. Buamah therefore, urged the youth not to take Christ for granted but lead righteous lifestyles worthy of emulation. Mr John Peter Amewu, Hohoe District Chief Executive (DCE) entreated the youth to use the celebration to sow seeds of peaceful co-existence and work harder for mother Ghana and a guaranteed future. He urged the congregation to embrace the opening of a new registration of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) for efficient and affordable healthcare delivery.
Mr Prince Hayibor, Member of Parliament (MP) for Hohoe North prayed that Christ touched the hearts of irresponsible fathers to turn new leaves towards their children to curb the rising incidence of social delinquency and other vices.
He advised the youth to work harder to be more responsible before “taking the mantle of marriage, which he described as a sacrificial and challenging institution”.
Rev. Paul Ablode-Kosi, Youth Coordinator of the Church urged the youth to reflect the image of Christ and lead sacrificial lifestyles with good morals.
He asked them not to be enticed by the earthly pleasures and honour the elderly and the aged in society. A cash donation and a set of jersey and a football were presented by the DCE and the PM respectively to the Church.
