Irresponsible parents must be sanctioned

Winneba (C/R), April 13, GNA- The President of Progressive Youth Club (PYC) at Winneba, Mr. Philip Adu Mensah has called for drastic measures against irresponsible parents who neglect their children. He said unless this was done, millions of innocent children would continue to suffer despite repeated warning to guardians to give their children proper training and education.

Mr Adu Mensah was addressing a seminar, organised by the Club at Winneba on Easter Sunday.

The topic for the programme was ‘the right of the African Child’. He said parents who deny their children the right to develop their talents must be dealt with because they are a threat to human development.

Mr Adu Mensah reminded parents that it is their divine and moral obligation to ensure that their children got the best of their love and adequate protection.

He advised children to be respectful to their parents and also make sure that their rights were not trampled upon. 13 April 04
