INVESTORS URGED TO SETUP AGRO-BASED INDUSTRIES

Investors have been called upon to take advantage of the Rural electrification Programme to establish Agro-base industries and other economic ventures in the rural areas as a means of helping to solve the unemployment problem in the country. The advice was given by the West Akyem District Director of the National Commission for Civic Education, Mr.. Isaac Nti-Ababio, Palm Oil Extractors Association at Sukrong Bethlehem near Mepom. He said that one of the objectives of the programme is to stop the drift of the youth to the cities to seek employment. The Research Officer of the Commission, Mr.. Kwasi Amoah-Temeng, urged the farmers to show interest in the education of their children by providing the needed logistics for them. The Field Officer of the Commission, Mr.. D.Y. Nkromah, condemned the indiscriminate felling of trees in the area. He appealed to chiefs, churches, Assembly members and other identifiable groups to educate the people to embark on tree – planting exercises. End
