Invest in ‘One District One Factory’ – Duncan to Ghanaians abroad

The Central Regional Minister, Kwamena Duncan, has called on Ghanaians living abroad who hail from the region to take advantage of government’s One-District, One-Factory programme to invest in the region.

“I call on our brothers and sisters from the Central Region living abroad to take advantage of this policy and to invest in the factories here to help in the overall development of the region,” Mr Duncan said.

He said this at the launch of the government’s flagship programme – One-District, One-Factory – in Ekumfi in the Central Region on Friday, 25 August 2017.

He also thanked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for choosing the region to construct the first factory under the programme.

The launch of the programme is in fulfillment of a pledge by Mr Akufo-Addo to see the actualisation of the industrialisation of Ghana as part of the transformation process he envisages for the country.

According to government, the programme will create an environment conducive for each local government to own factories relative to their well-endowed resources and capacity to provide jobs and wealth for the country.

Nana Akufo-Addo cut the sod to begin the construction of the Ekumfi Fruit Processing Company factory which will process pineapples for the local and international market. Currently, the company cultivates the fruits, and seeks to expand its operations into processing.
