Invest in anti-corruption institutions if… – CHRAJ

The acting Commissioner of CHRAJ Richard Quayson has tasked government to demonstrate its commitment to fight corruption by investing adequately in all anti-corruption institutions.

Mr. Quayson, who was speaking on the national anti-corruption action plan workshop in Koforidua, regretted that government continues to under-fund anti-corruption agencies, with CHRAJ being the worst funded.

He said one and a half years after fire burned the offices of the commission, it is yet to receive even a pesewa to renovate its offices and resettle staff.

“One and half years after fire gutted the offices of CHRAJ, we are yet to even receive a pesewa to renovate the office and to resettle our staff who were displaced by the fire. Ghana is ready to commence the implementation of NACAP this year under the banner NACAP; Ghana united against corruption. We must not miss out on this great opportunity to rally the nation around NACAP and restore public confidence in public offices”.

The National Anti-Corruption Action plan NACAP, seeks to mobilize efforts and resources of stakeholders to prevent and fight the menace of corruption through the promotion of high ethics and enforcement of laws.

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, assured of government’s commitment to fund CHRAJ to combat corruption in the country.

Membership of the National Anti-Corruption Action NACAP is drawn from Parliament, the Judiciary, CHRAJ, the EOCO, Office of the President, Audit Service and Private Enterprises Commission among others.
