Inusah Fuseini’s aide slams protesting Tamale Central constituents

Aide to Roads and Highways minister and Member of Parliament for the Tamale Central constituency, Hamza Suhuyini says protests by residents against the MP over infrastructure projects are “unfair” and borne out of ‘ignorance’.

Residents of the constituency have been agitating against Mr. Inusah Fuseini over lack of infrastructure projects and unavailability of jobs for the youth.

They are particularly angry about their MP being in charge of roads yet still they have deplorable and bad road networks in the constituency.

Locals of Gumbihini, Changli, and Sabonjida all in the constituency have vowed to vote out Mr. Fuseini after several failed attempts to hold him accountable for his previous campaign pledges.

Some residents have already begun a campaign to oust the MP by flying up banners telling voters to vote President Mahama and reject Mr. Fuseini. The action caused angry clashes.

But the minister’s aide speaking at a health walk in Tamale slammed the demands of the constituents saying they are mounting undue pressure on the minister to act illegally.

According to him the minister though responsible for roads in Ghana cannot hoard all road projects to the constituency alone.

“The misconception has to do with the fact that because their Member of Parliament is the minister in charge of roads and highways they assume that he should be able to come to Tamale Central and say all roads should be tarred. Unfortunately, he is manning a ministry that is regulated by an act of Parliament and most, especially, by an executive order; what it means is that he is supposed to see to the road network of all the ten regions in the country and about the 275 constituencies”

“So it will be unfair for Hon. Inusah Fuseini to take everything to his constituency and neglect the other 274 constituencies”, Suhuyini indicated.
