INTERNSHIP TO GROOM STUDENTS

Over the last few years, there has been a clear indication of how internship has been managed and utilized in tertiary institutions of which Ghana institute of journalism is not an exception.

With introducing it into many institutions to enhance the skills, knowledge and practicality of students, it always has an aim of improving the standards of students, upgrade and groom them to achieve their desires of being professionals in their places of office in the near future.

In addition to students getting great experience to complete their classroom learning, internships allow them to beef up their portfolio or resume and make valuable industry contacts that can be essential to acquire the ideal job upon graduation. The Significance of internships to tertiary students in terms of networking cannot be understated and building a network of knowing new people can pay great dividends upon graduating.

In an interview with some students of Ghana institute of journalism who portrayed how effective their internship has been for them, and voiced out their opinions including changes they would like to see in the future, most of them with so much excitement felt the internship met their expectations whilst others also criticized the programme, However internship to them has been extremely helpful
