Interior ministry renews curfew on Bunkprugu community

The curfew hours on the Bunkprugu community has been renewed, a statement from the Ministry of the Interior has said.

It said the Minister, Prosper Bani, on the advice of the Northern Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument, has renewed the curfew hours on the Bunkprugu community from 8:00pm to 6:00am.

The new security arrangement takes effect from Tuesday, November 1, 2016, it stated.

It said, “Government continues to urge chiefs, opinion leaders, youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace to the area”.

Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in the Bunkprugu community and surrounding areas from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapon. Any person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted, it said.
