The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has reiterated the government’s dedication to transforming Ghana’s prisons into modern correctional facilities. Speaking at the Passing-Out Parade of Recruit Course 125 at the Ankaful Prison Officers’ Training School, the Minister underscored the need to focus on rehabilitation, reformation, and reintegration of inmates to create a more secure and productive society.
Addressing the graduates, Hon. Muntaka highlighted plans to expand vocational training, educational programs, and inmate enterprises within correctional facilities. He emphasized that such initiatives are not acts of charity but strategic investments in national security and human capital, ensuring that individuals leaving the system are better equipped to contribute positively to society.
The ceremony also celebrated the commissioning of new officers who have been trained to align with the evolving vision of the Ghana Prisons Service. The Minister urged the new recruits to approach their roles with professionalism and compassion, ensuring that correctional facilities serve as centers of transformation rather than mere detention.
