Inter-church collaboration advocated

Gbi-Atabu (V/R), May 30, GNA – The Very Reverend Julius Dzodzordzi of the Hohoe Methodist Church at the weekend, called for inter-church collaboration to achieve closer ties as the necessary tool for the growth and development.

Rev. Dzodzordzi was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) as part of a weeklong outreach programme marking the 40th anniversary of the Bible Society of Ghana, on the theme: “God’s Unchanging Word For A Changing World”.

He mentioned self-centredness, greed and doctrinal differences as factors that militate against the unity of the church. “We do not see ourselves as Christians but as a churches,” Rev Dzodzordzi”, who also doubles as representative of the Local Council of Churches said.

Mr Kofi Agamah, Project and Human Resource Manager of the society said the Bible was a symbol of unity, peace and love and should be the rallying point for God’s people and not doctrinal differences. He said religion and politics were bedfellows and urged the church to speak strongly against societal evils such as corruption, immorality, and abuse of the rule of law.

Togbe Adzofuwusu IV, Chief of Gbi-Atabu called on the church to unite to serve as a safe haven for the downtrodden, broken hearted and the afflicted in society.

As part of the celebration, over 2,200 Ewe and English Bibles were sold to the public.

Other activities included film shows, choral nights, symposia, quiz and Bible marathon reading.

The Bible Society of Ghana is a non-denominational Christian organization, which translates and publishes the Bible into various Ghanaian languages and distributes it at affordable prices.
