Intensify Programme On Oil Palm – Juabenhene

The Juabenhene and an Industrialist, Nana Otuo Siribour II has called for an initiative on “Agribusiness” to boost the Oil Palm Industry.

He said the programme should concentrate on intensive agronomy practices and processing of oil palm to realise the enormous potentials in the industry. Nana Otuo Siribour who accompanied President Kufuor on his State Visit to Malaysia, was briefing newsmen in Langkawi on his impressions about the visit and how Ghana could use the Malaysian experience to enrich the oil palm industry.

Nana Otuo Siribour who is also a Member of the Council of State said other members of the delegation are determined to assist in the implementation of the development initiatives they saw in Malaysia.

The government has expressed its determination to increase the current acreage of oil palm from 25,000 hectares to 100,000. Malaysia earns about Seven Billion Dollars annually from the Oil Palm industry.
