Intensify education on registration – Nii Komme

Mr Jonathan Nii Kommey Mettle Otoo, Assemblyman for the Mudor Electoral Area in the Odododiodoo Constituency has called on the Electoral Commission, National Commission for Civic Education, the Information Services Department and the Media to intensify education on the Voter Register Revision exercise to make it a success.

Speaking to the GNA in Accra on Monday, he stated that, now that the Supreme Court has ruled on an injunction that held up the exercise, which should have been conducted from June 20 to June 29, more public education was needed to make the electorate aware, especially those who have attained the voting age of 18 years old and above.

Mr Mettle Otoo noted that unlike the election petition early this year, the Supreme court has dealt with the challenge on the use of the National Health Insurance card as proof of eligibility to register during the exercise expeditiously.

He said with the way now clear, the electorate should be well informed about the registration to enable them to exercise their franchise in the forthcoming District Assembly elections.

The revised voter register would be used for the conduct of this year’s District Assembly Elections.
