A staunch member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe has dismissed claims by his party that President John Dramani Mahama is incompetent.
According to the former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association, President Mahama is an intelligent young man with great love for the nation, adding that if the president was incompetent as claimed by some members of the NPP, the country would have grounded to a halt long ago.
“I don’t think John is incompetent, I don’t think so at all,” the former Ghana Ambassador to Serbia and Montenegro said in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme on Tuesday.
The former CEO of Accra Hearts of Oak added “If my party says so, they know what they are saying is not true. If he had been incompetent, this country would have been grounded long ago.
“He is a very intelligent young man who has tremendous love for this nation, and he is so amazing. There are things about that man that amazes me sometimes; it is not every political leader that goes everywhere and is accepted.”
Dr. Tamakloe’s comment comes after the President has on several occasions been described as incompetent by several members of the NPP including Nana Akufo-Addo’s running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his handling of the economy and the inability to solve the energy crisis.
The outspoken Dr. Tamakloe, however, denied that his comments were an endorsement of the president’s re-election bid.
