Integrate the aged to reduce boredom-Anglican Dean

Sekondi, Jan. 9,- GNA – The Very Reverend Doctor Jacob Welbourne, Dean of the Saint Andrews Anglican Cathedral said the aged in society should be re-integrated into society to reduce boredom.

He said, while the aged are kept indoors others are denied access to social amenities, while a few others are left to take care of themselves.

Rev. Welbourne said these at a get-together organised by the Guild of Good Shepherd within the Church for 180 aged people living within Sekondi on Saturday.

He called on the young people to learn from the aged since they have a great deal of information, knowledge and ideas that could be passed on to them.

“Don’t shy away, befriend them and give them the necessary support that could make them less bored about life” he added.

Mr. Charles E. Morgue, president of the Guild said the get-together is an annual event of the organisation aimed at re-integrating the elderly into the society. He appealed to families with the aged to assist them to cope in their new environment.
