Institute of Accountancy holds matriculation

Accra, Oct. 17, GNA – The Institute of Accountancy Training (IAT) on Friday matriculated 203 students for the 2008/2009 academic year with a renewed resolve to help improve financial and administrative efficiency in the public sector. The students would purse diploma in Public Administration, Public Finance Administration and Business Studies. Mr Theophilus Hanson, Principal of IAT, said the Institute was one of the human resources development arms of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning with the mandate to provide training for a cost-effective management and professionalism in public services. He therefore reminded the students that professional excellence could not be achieved it they failed to perform their roles in the education process, saying “your part of the vision is to dedicate yourself to studies”.

Mr Hanson also warned that the IAT would not tolerate any attempts to thwart the efforts to achieve professional and academic excellence. “State resources are going to be used for your training and it is the duty of the Institute’s administration, academic staff and students to realise the expectation indirectly imposed by the citizens.” On efforts to improve IAT’s facilities, Mr Hanson announced that the new site acquired at Adenta had started operation and expressed the hope it would become the Institute’s central campus when fully operational. Mr Daniel Owiredu, Deputy Director of the Ghana Education Service, also asked the students to surmount all challenges encountered during their study and remain focused to achieve their professional goals.
