Infrastructure in Sekondi/Takoradi lacking- residents

Begrudged residents are unhappy with the lack of infrastructural development in Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region after the oil and gas find in the area.

They grimaced that although traffic congestion and rent prices continued to sore, little had been done by the city authorities to relieve residents of their economic and social woes.

Mr. Kofi Mensah, a taxi driver, expressed concern about the potholes on the roads, which had developed as a result of heavy duty vehicles transporting boulders to the Takoradi Port, due to the ongoing expansion works to accommodate sea traffic in the oil and gas business.

He added that the influx of cars into the region calls for more investment on the road networks.

Mr. Paul Gyabaah, a businessman, condemned the bad roads within the metropolis and called for the expansion of some portions of the Takoradi- Accra road, Takoradi Harbour road and the Casuarina belt.

Meanwhile, the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Captain Rtd Anthony Cudjoe, says most of the roads had been awarded on contract and assured residents of the assembly’s commitment to work and improve the general conditions within the metropolis.
