Inflation By Negotiation, NPP ? Style

…..NDUOM LIES AGAIN?ACTING GOVERNMENT STATISTICIAN TO BE SACKED?

Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, Minister for Economic Planning and Regional Integration, is not only a political prostitute, he is also fast establishing himself as the NPP?s political hatched man and a political liar without parallel.

As a political prostitute, he negotiated secretly for a political post with the NDC, contested on the ticket of the CPP, and took a post under the NPP, in the build-up to the 2000 elections.

As a political liar, he also lied that the Ghana Poverty Reduction strategy was the NPP?s replacement for the NDC?s vision 2020.

Last Tuesday, he was boldly reported in the ?Daily Graphic? to have categorically asserted, ?The current inflation rate is a round 16 per cent and not 29 per cent as being peddled by some financial analyst.

The truth however, is that the 29.4 per cent inflation figure for February 2003 is not being peddled by any financial analyst but that it is the official inflation rate published by the only recognized state institution responsible for collecting, analyzing and publishing inflation date, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).

The GHANA PALAVER , which has published the report of the GSS, dated March 13, 2003, indicated that Kwesi Nduom, the political prostitute and political liar?s statement is seeking to mislead Ghanaians, but this statement from the GSS report on ?Annual change? is talking about the yearly inflation figure for only January and February 2003, which it gives as 15.6%, whilst the earlier month-to-month inflation figure for February, 2003 is what is given as 29.4%.
