Indian Hemp Turns Into Green Grass

CID Headquarters investigates

THE CRIMINAL Investigations Department (CID) headquarters of the Ghana Police Service is investigating circumstances under which an exhibit, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, in the custody of Akosombo police, turned out to be green-grass/ordinary dried leaves.

Tips from the Akosombo police, corroborated by the CID headquarters, say that the headquarters upon being roped in went to the Akosombo police station to verify the existence of the dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

Our sources stated that one of the 26 bags containing the exhibits reportedly turned out to rather contain either green-grass or ordinary dried leaves when in actual fact the crime laboratory had allegedly confirmed the dried leaves to be Indian hemp.

The next line of action being taken has not been disclosed but police sources said it is a serious offence in the police for an exhibit to either be stolen or mishandled.

It will be recalled that about two years ago, police on barrier duties on the Adomi Bridge intercepted an ambulance with 26 bags of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp concealed in it.

Later the ambulance was released to the owner and the driver sent to court, the outcome of which is not readily available at the time of filing this report.
