India Donates Water Pumps

The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Mr. Arun Kumar Banerjee, has presented 75 water pumps, with pipes, and a motorbike to Mr. Kwasi Owusu-Yeboa, the Volta Regional Minister.

The items worth ?130 million were donated in Accra by the Government of India in accordance with her policy of assisting brotherly developing countries.

The water pumps are meant for needy people living in rural areas who lack potable water, while the motorbike will enable and facilitate some official duties to be carried out within the district.

In this spirit of co-operation, the High Commissioner pledged to continue to assist and support needy Ghanaians and organisations.

Mr.Owusu-Yeboa, who received the items, thanked the Government of India for her contribution towards the development of Ghana in diverse ways and promised that the items will be put to appropriate use.
