Independent parliamentary candidate unfazed by Akufo-Addo’s disclaimer

Independent parliamentary candidate for Atwima Kwanwoma says NPP flagbearer’s recent denial of him will do little to change his bid to represent the constituency in parliament.

Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency was one of the constituencies NPP flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo, visited on his recent campaign tour to the Ashanti Region two weeks ago.

The constituency has been easy to call for the NPP in previous elections.

However, the emergence of one of its own as independent candidate makes the contest tight.

Nana Addo had to publicly dissociate himself with Dr. Opoku, declaring support for the party –sponsored candidate, Dr. Appiah Kubi.

But Dr. Ernest Opoku says he is unperturbed by the presidential candidate’s position.

“All the national executives of the party[NPP] have been to Atwima Kwanwoma and have heard what the people are saying… Nana Akuffo Addo is calling for change because the President is not performing what is wrong in doing same here?”, he quized.

Dr. Opoku who has been addressing his supporters at Kotwi tells Luv FM contributing to provision of quality healthcare to the people will be his priority if he gets the nod from the electorate.
