Independence anniversary celebration marked in Winneba

Winneba (C/R), March 8, GNA- A parade of school children, members of voluntary organisations, traders, hairdressers, dressmakers, was on Thursday held at the Winneba A.M.E Zion School park to mark Ghana’s 51st Independence Anniversary celebration. A large number of people including the Omanhene of the Effutu Traditional Area, Neenyi Ghartey VII and other chiefs attended the event.

Mr Solomon Abbam Quaye, the Municipal chief executive for Effutu, Mr Daniel Kweku Arhin, the Municipal Director of Education, the Officer commanding the Police Training School at Winneba, Assistant Superintendent of Police Samuel Okanta, jointly took the salute. Mr Abbam Quaye read President Kufuor’s anniversary address in which he appealed to Ghanaians to ensure that the nation had a peaceful election in December among other issues. The Member of Parliament for Effutu and Minister for Public Sector Reforms, Mr Samuel Owusu Adjei noted that a country that did not have the appropriate structures to promote science and technology would remain undeveloped.
