Incumbents lose election reruns

Sawla, (N/R) Dec. 21 GNA. Incumbent Assembly Members of Gindabor and Jentilpe Electoral Areas of the newly created Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District lost their seats in District Assembly Election reruns. Mr Ofosuhene Asante, District Electoral Officer, told the GNA that the Gindabor election rerun followed an equality of votes received by the incumbent, Chief Seidu Adamu and David Dibaarnye Dapila, who both had 348 votes in the election held on Tuesday September 26 2006. He said in the rerun Chief Adamu polled 415 votes as against 628 votes by Mr Dapila. The turnout was 56.3 per cent.

Mr Asante said the rerun in Jentilpe followed reported cases of election malpractices in the September 26 elections adding the incumbent, John Lalietey lost with 86 votes while Mr Mango Joseph Lange won with 475 votes. The voter turnout was 68.1 per cent.
