Incumbent loses Bosome-Freho primaries

Asiwa (Ash), Aug 3, GNA – Mr G.Y. Amoah, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosome-Freho Constituency in the Amansie East District lost the New Patriotic Party constituency primaries held at Asiwa to Nana Yaw Ofori Kuragu, Managing Director of Cozy Lodge in Kumasi. Mr Amoah polled 14 out of the 69 votes cast while Nana Kuragu got 56 of the votes in the elections supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC).

The voting was delayed for a considerable length of time due to the absence of the incumbent MP and Mr Agyei, the Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). However, the delegates resolved to carry on with the election with or without the presence of the incumbent MP and the Constituency Chairman, which paved the way for the elections to be held.

In accepting the outcome of the elections, Nana Kuragu thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work hard to raise conditions in the constituency considered to be one of the deprived in the District. He, however, appealed to them not to abandon him in midstream during the December polls but to vote massively for the NPP to retain power.

Mr Bobie Ansah, Second Ashanti Regional Vice Chairman of the NPP, advised the Party’s supporters to unite and work hard for it to retain power in December.
