Inculcate sound morals in kids

Tema, Sept 4, GNA – Mr Robert Kempes Papa Nii Ofosuware, Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), has called on educationists to inculcate sound morals towards the character-building of kids to grow up as responsible adults.

Mr Ofosuware made the call, on Friday, in a speech to mark the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly’s (TMA) Day Care Centres, in Tema.

“As the Bible puts it, train the child the way he should go, and when he grows he will not depart from it”. He pointed out that sound training given to kids serves the moral tonic that would live long in their minds and hearts for the rest of their lives.

Mr Ofosuware, a product of the TMA Day Care Unit, emphasized that to further develop the school, its authorities must reflect on the fifty years of existence for self appraisal and re-strategizing. “The vision of the school must be reviewed and refocused to relate to today’s environment,” he said. “This is a challenge to us all, especially the TMA and the parents of the kids. The MCE stated that the Assembly recognized that sound education and for that matter, pre-education, “provides the most reliable foundation for ensuring the rapid social, economic, political and technological development of the Metropolis and the country at large.” Miss Agnes Biraah, Superintendent of the Centres, paid a glowing tribute to the late Mrs Agnes Okaikor Ayiku, for her good pioneering role as the first head of the TMA Day Care Unit, which, she said, laid a good and firm foundation for its growth and subsequent achievements. She said the Unit has a population of 561 with a staff strength of 43.

Miss Biraah appealed to the Assembly for the expansion of infrastructure to facilitate teaching and learning. The kids entertained the invited guests with poetry recitals, drama, and choreography.
