Nkawie (Ash), March 17, GNA- Ghanaian language and cultural teachers have been called upon not only to teach pupils to use decent language but to inculcate in them the need to be polite in their speech. Mr Mohammed Ibrahim, Atwima District Cultural Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), who made the call, said it was important for Ghanaian language and culture teachers in basic schools to train pupils to be polite in their conversation with their colleagues and elders at all times.
Speaking at a day’s workshop on Ghanaian language and culture organised by the Atwima district education directorate for teachers in basic schools in the district at Nkawie on Friday pointed out that when children in school learn how to be polite in their speech, the nation would produce well-behaved people.
Mr Ibrahim further advised teachers to encourage their children to use local materials during their vocational skills periods to enable them make use of their full potential.
He called on teachers not to wait for the government to supply them with foreign materials before they teach the children the vocational skills, adding that as teachers, they must encourage their pupils to draw and paint using newsprints, torn out papers and crayon.
