In court for selling unwholesome Guinness product

Accra, Jan. 15, GNA – A Guinness retailer in Accra on Thursday appeared before the Madina District Magistrate Court for selling unwholesome alcoholic beverage, Gordon Spark, to the public.

Mrs Justina Tei pleaded not guilty to selling unwholesome drink for human consumption.

She was charged together with Mr Ali Abdallah, a distributor of the product.

Mrs Tei was granted two million cedis bail to reappear on January 22. Mr Abdallah was not in court.

The case of the Prosecution was that on December 10, 2003, Environmental Health Officers traced an unwholesome product at Madina in Accra to Justina’s shop. The drink contained moulds and particles. The consignment was seized and sent to the offices of the Ga District. Prosecution further stated that the health officers followed up to the distributor’s depot and inspected batches and dates of the consignment and put an embargo on 1,934 crates.

“The consignment are still at the depot,” Prosecution said.
