Impostor gets 10 years prison sentence

Asamankese (E/R), Dec 18, GNA- An unemployed who introduced himself as a soldier attached to the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) and severely beat up a man he falsely accused of murder has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment with hard labour by the Asamankese Circuit court.

Prince Dosu pleaded guilty

Police Chief Inspector S.A. Ntow, prosecuting, said on December 2, one Yaw Mensah was at a drinking spot at Boadua near Akwatia, when Dosu went there with another person.

Dosu introduced himself to Mensah as a soldier attached to the BNI and that he was under arrest for murder at Boadua a few years ago. Mensah denied committing any murder but Dosu pounced on him and beat him up.

That attracted people to the scene who pleaded with Dosu to exercise patience. Dosu demanded 60,000 cedis before releasing him. Someone demanded the identity card of the accused but he could not produce it. A military patrol vehicle appeared on the scene and with their help they arrested Dosu and took him to the Police station.
