A Takoradi circuit court “B” presided over by Ms. Rita Doku has sentenced Charles Boateng, unemployed, to five days imprisonment in addition to a fine of GH¢4200.00 for defrauding the state by false pretense.
Three other accomplices, Tangba, David Appiah and Ahmed Muniru Abdul Salam, were fined GH¢1200.00 each or in default serve 12 months imprisonment for aiding in forgery and abatement.
Boateng was accused of forging a Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) student’s identification card bearing the name Emmanuel Sakyere Baah in order to register as a National Service Personnel.
He also had in his possession National Service posting and appointment letters with National Service numbers GS7945214 to Dwinase Methodist JHS, Sefwi Wiaso in the Western Region.
The convict told the court that James Tangba provided him with the pin code and ID card which he used to get the posting and appointment letters for the National Service posting after paying GH¢450.00.
However, Ahmed Muniru Abdul Salam claimed they only printed the school’s ID card after he was paid GH¢60.00 adding that someone else provided him with the code but could not provide adequate information about the person.
