I’m the only Chairman who secured more seats – Wontumi declares as he denies poor performance

The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Bosiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, has refuted assertions that he poorly managed the party in the region, which some claim led to the loss of parliamentary seats.

He made these remarks on the sidelines of the party’s national delegates conference, currently being held at the Accra Sports Stadium.

“It is not true that I mismanaged the party and caused our defeat and made us lose some seats in the region,” he explained. “When you go to Parliament today, you will discover that almost half of the MPs from the NPP are from the Ashanti Region. That was due to hard work and the intervention of God. The party is not only in the Ashanti Region; we have regional branches, but the Ashanti Region is the only region with over 40 seats. We had no seats in some of the regions, so no one can say I mismanaged the Ashanti Region.”

Chairman Wontumi added that despite the challenges, he possesses the necessary experience in political party management and is prepared to ensure the party secures victory in 2028.

He assured the party of a 2028 victory if he is elected as National Chairman.

“In life, you gather experience through higher learning and practical experience. I have moved from constituency chairman to regional chairman for three different terms. I have done my best, even in the face of challenges. I have the political experience and understand Ghanaian politics. As Chairman of the NPP, I am assuring the party that if God grants me this opportunity, Chairman Wontumi will sacrifice himself in ensuring that the NPP secures victory.”

Meanwhile, he commended the leadership of the NPP for the successful organization of the delegates conference.

He admonished the party to stay strong, united, and prepared for victory in 2028, arguing that the NPP is the only party with the experience and skills to manage the economy better.

“We are for peace, and as a party, we have to stay united and think in the collective interest of the NPP, not individualism. We are a party of competent personalities, and so we have to do our best in positioning the NPP in a manner that will secure victory in 2028,” he told Rainbow Radio’s Bosheba Afriyie.
