‘I’m the chief land guard’ – Police Commander

The Tema Regional Police Commander DCOP George Tuffuor has described himself as the chief land guard in the Tema Region claiming that he is being feared by land guards who are operating within Tema and its environs.

“I’m the chief land guard,” he said.

DCOP George Tuffuor was recently blamed by residents of Atadeka, Kobekrom 1&2, Zenu and Washington for not doing anything to stem the activities of land guards who keep terrorizing property owners in the above mentioned areas.

Some of the residents alleged that the commander and some police officers in the region were solidly behind these land guards, hence their inability to clamp down on them, an allegation which the Commander denied vehemently.

Speaking to Oman FM during a workshop for police officers in the Tema Region DCOP George Tuffuor, claimed that the activities of land guard is not thriving like it used to be in the past since he became the commander for the region.

“As for land guards issue it is not like before because they are now afraid of the police,” he said.

He told Oman FM that crime situation in Tema Region has reduced by between 70% and 75 %.

According to him, the command has put in place measures to stem criminal from now to Christmas festivities.
