‘I’m one of you’ – Mahama to 1m Facebook fans

President John Mahama has told his one million fans on Facebook that he is no different from them, adding that he pushes himself every day to build a prosperous country for them since he has them in mind and at heart.

In a short video message to thank his followers for helping him reach the one million milestone on the social networking site, Mr Mahama said: “I am and forever will be one of you. And this is why as your president, I fight hard each day to make sure our dear nation moves forward.”

“There’s a tremendous lot yet to do but our progress is undeniable, especially when it comes to development of social infrastructural which has created some decent number of jobs already. Everything I do, I do it with you in my heart, and with you the good people of Ghana in mind. So, let us continue on this track. God bless you and many thanks to all of you for this one million milestones.”

According to Mr Mahama, who is running for a second term in office on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), “The ultimate objective of politics is human interaction for progress and development and Facebook offers us the opportunity to exchange views, ideas and emotions in a direct manner.

Because of this exchange, you know me better and I feel I know and understand you better too. You’ve made me a better leader and in a sense, a better person. I hope that in turn, I have made you proud of our mother Ghana and ready to stand for what is right to bring hope to all.”
