I’m not scared of Akufo-Addo’s Special Prosecutor – Former Minister

Former Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice in the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, Dr. Dominic Ayine has said there was no wrong doing on his part while in office that could warrant his possible prosecution by any government.

His comments come in the wake of a raging controversy over the bill about the Special Prosecutor which has been laid before parliament with calls by the minority side for it to be withdrawn.

The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East Constituency and ranking member for the Constitutional and Legal affairs of parliament, admitted playing various roles in high profile transactions under the previous government but said there were no commissions and omissions on his part

“I was involved in a number of transactions. .. …I was involved in the Karpower transaction as legal advisor to the President. … I was also involved in the AMERI transaction as legal advisor to government and all these transactions where I stood and I stand today I am not afraid at all about any corruption having taken place”, he stated.

“I never took any money from AMERI or any person in order to do my job as a Deputy Attorney General”, the NDC Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East told Citi Fm’s Franklin Badu Jnr.

“That fact that the deal was badly negotiated does not necessarily mean the participants took money or the participants are corrupt. It may be as a result of incompetence or lack of understanding of the deal process”, the former Deputy Attorney General believes.
