I’m not bothered Finance Minister is begging for time – Petitioner

The Finance Minister’s request for fifteen more working days to respond to queries on whether or not he contravened the provisions of 1992 Constituency to offer $2.25 billion bond is just to buy time according to the petitioner.

Brogya Genfi who is the petitioner, has accused government of dragging its feet on the matter hampering the speedy adjudication by the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) despite high public interest in the matter

“I hear Hon. Kenneth Ofor-Atta has requested CHRAJ to give him more time to respond to my petition” Mr. Yaw Brogya Genfi posted on his facebook wall.

The Finance Minister has officially written to CHRAJ asking for extra fifteen working days to respond to allegations of possible conflict of interest made against him by the Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“I am not the least perturbed about this request. I am however surprise that the Finance Minister will request for twenty-five days to respond this “small” petition”, he adds.

Mr. Brogya Genfi petitioned CHRAJ over government dealing with an American sole investor, Franklin Templeteton Investment Limited to purchase 95% of 2.25 billion the bond issued.

Accordingly to the petitioner, there is a relational between Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta and Mr. G. Trefgarne, who in an annual semi report of Franklin Templeton was captured as one of the Board of Directors and chairman of the Enterprise Group Limited.

Meanwhile, Minority NDC in parliament have also taken the matter up to petition USA Securities and Exchange Commission to investigate these similar allegations against government and the Finace Minister.
