I’m not arrogant and disrespectful – Karbo

Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Anthony Abayifa Karbo has attacked the perception of arrogance against his persona stating he did nothing wrong in protecting his boss, Hon. Akwasi Amoako-Atta from being attacked by hoodlums.

“I am one person and the last to abuse power as a government official”, the Lawra lawmaker responded to allegations he is arrogant and disrespectful.

The Deputy Minister has been in the news for causing the arrest of a local contractor said to have physically hurled insults at the sector minister, Hon. Kwasi Amoako Atta during road inspection.

“A man abuses a politician, insulted him for no crime and do we have to clap for that person?” Hon. Anthony Abayifa Karbo quizzed giving an eye witness account on radio interview.

“What is abuse of power? They can say whatever they want to say …as for your opponent nothing will please them”, the outspoken young politician pointed out on Kumasi-based radio station.

The Roads and Highways Minister, at a construction site to discuss with the representatives of the companies situated at a location turn sour.

The Deputy Minister who was part on the inspection team on the main Tema motorway stated that the clash was a result of him defending his boss from the irate workers of a private excavator sales company.

“It was a very sad situation to look on unconcerned while my boss was being harassed, insulted and assaulted by these irate workers, I couldn’t stay aloof”.

“Somebody who is older as my father and being subjected to all these inhumane treatment it was something I had to come in”.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP however refuted allegations that he ordered the arrest of the minister’s attacker.

“The minister has police guard who suppose to protect him. …he knows his job as an officer. I did not cause the arrest of anyone”, the Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways stressed.
