I’m not a joker – Kofi Akpaloo

Flag bearer of the Independent People’s Party (IPP), Kofi Akpaloo, has said he would be a better manager of the country if elected as president. He has, therefore, said there is the need for him to be on the ballot paper for the December 7 polls.

Mr Akpaloo, who is one of 13 presidential nominees disqualified from this year’s elections, said he has the qualities to be a good president.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s political programme Ekosii Sen on Tuesday November 1, Mr Akpaloo said: “I am not a joker. I am serious with my ambition to be president.”

“I feel I can be president and manage Ghana better than what we are experiencing at the moment.”

Meanwhile, he has sued the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana over his disqualification from contesting in the elections.

He said on Tuesday in defence of his suit which will be heard by the Accra High Court on Friday 4 November that: “We are asking the court to put me back on the list of presidential nominees because she [Mrs Charlotte Osei, Chair of the Electoral Commission] didn’t give me the opportunity to explain to her why these three [subscribers] genuinely signed for me. … To me she erred, it wasn’t right, the people genuinely signed for me.”
