I’m no ‘joker’ of a Mayor – Vanderpuije

The Mayor of Ghana’s capital city has parried a ‘joker’ tag slapped on him by a citizen in connection with the filth in the capital, Accra.

Parts of the city have been taken over by filth, especially within the past few rainy months.

Residents in the city have been calling and texting into radio programmes to express their anger at the poor sanitary condition.

One such listener branded the Mayor a “joker” in a text message sent to a private station, Joy FM.

An obviously displeased Alfred Vanderpuije rebutted the tag saying he hardly sleeps in his effort towards getting Accra clean.

The criticisms against the Mayor follows a one-hundred-day ultimatum issued by the country’s Vice President to the Metropolitan Assembly to clear the city of filth.
