I’m going into farming – Afari Gyan

Outgoing Electoral Commissioner Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan has revealed that he is going into full time farming now that he has retired from his post.

Dr Gyan, who has helped conduct elections in other African countries and has been at the helm of affairs since 1993, brought his long years of public service to an end last Wednesday as he turns 70.

The President is yet to announce his successor.

Speaking to Kafui Dey on the Morning Starr Thursday, Dr Afari Gyan said his retirement will avail him the opportunity to pursue his farming interest.

“I have always said that I will be going into farming. I have had a farm for the past 17 years and I am going to pay attention to it. I have fish and Noni in my farm; those are the only things I grow now”.

He added, however, that he will not miss the job as chair of the electoral body.

“I have done this work for a very long time, everybody gets tired for doing something for so long and so no; I will not miss it”.
