Illegal miners are the wicked citizens in the country – Catholic Archbishop

The Metropolitan Archbishop of the Kumasi Archdiocese of the Catholic Church, His Grace Justice Gabriel Yaw Anokye has described Ghanaians involved in illegal mining as the wicked citizens who seek the fall of the country over their personal interest

His lordship made this admonishment as part of his responsibility as Bishop of the Holy Catholic Church to support the good fight by the government to eradicate illegal mining activities which has destroyed almost every water body in the country in the last couple of years.

In a summon at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church – Tafo, His Grace Anokye, stated that ‘galamsey’ is an evil act which needs to be stopped else, the nation will end up losing most of her natural resources.

“Thinking about yourself and family without considering the nation means you are greedy and evil. In all, let’s think about the future of the country and the generations to come”. He bitterly cried out

He further lamented that such people are even wicked and dangerous than murderers and went further to describe them as fools who do not think about their country.

Consequently, he urged both faithful and Ghanaians at large to have love for the country than any other thing.

The shepherd of Catholic faithful of Kumasi Archdiocese also hinted that though the government has banned ‘galamsey’ activities in the country, he can state on authority that some unscrupulous persons are still digging and destroying water bodies.

“There are still many places ‘galamsey’ activities are ongoing at night. I can mention of Timso, Modaso and Diaso”. He hinted.
