Illegal miner remanded for alleged murder

Obuasi, Aug 15, GNA – An illegal miner (galamsey) at Sanso near Obuasi, who is facing a provisional charge of murder at the Obuasi circuit court, has been remanded in prison custody. Kwaku Akumia, 29, who first appeared before the court on August 9, this year, is alleged to have murdered one Kwaku Owusu, 23, an Accra-based trader at Sanso.

His plea was not taken; neither did the court hear the facts of the case.

Akumia is to re-appear before the court on September 8.
