I’ll still be president despite disqualification – Ayariga

The disqualified Presidential Nominee of the All People’s Congress (APC), Dr. Hassan Ayariga, has stated that his presidential ambition is on course despite efforts by the Electoral Commission (EC) to stop him.

The chair of the election management body, Charlotte Osei, according to Ayariga is not “serious” for denying the whole country the opportunity to have him as a presidential candidate.

He would not have been worried if his disqualification was based on realities, he said. But, it was not, he added.

He noted the contentious disqualification will not stop “Dr. Hassan Ayariga bid to become president of Ghana.”
He was only 44 years old, he said, and that he has so many years to go until 72.

The EC has disqualified 12 presidential aspirants including Mr. Ayariga over nomination form anomalies.

The EC explained that it was unable to accept Mr Ayariga’s nomination because he did not “provide evidence on his statutory declaration as to his hometown or residence in the constituency as per the legal requirements,” an explanation Mr. Ayariga labeled as “big lie.”

According to him, his disqualification is part of a grand plot to thwart his bid to become the country’s president.
