Former World Boxing Council(WBC) champion and 2005 Best Boxer of the Year, Ike ‘Bazooka’ Quartey, was robbed on Thursday night at the 3rd National Boxing Championship awards ceremony and heroes night held at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel.

Robbers broke into his Lexus saloon car and made away with his registered pistol, an Ipod, energy drinks, mobile phone and an amount of 1,700 dollars.

In a chat with Times Sports, he expressed surprise at the incident since it was the first time such a thing had happen to him.

This, he pointed out, came few days after rescinding his decision not to attend public functions.

He said he did not have any personal security in place and would advise himself about attending future public functions.
