IGP Warns General Public

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Nana Owusu-Nsiah has warned the general public against attacks of Police Stations by the public stating that offenders shall be prosecuted.

He made this declaration when he took a seven-day familiarisation tour of the Western Region to interact with the police and to find out problems and other issues that affect their work.

In an address to about 300 officers and men, the IGP assured them of exemplary leadership and improvement on the good works of his predecessors.

He promised to repair the negative image of the service and clamp down on armed robbers and indiscipline on the roads.

He called on the police to show a lot of discipline, professionalism, circumspection and fairness in the discharge of their duties to calve new image for the service.

The IGP warned that those who will fall foul of the law shall be dealt with accordingly and called for cordial police and media relations.

Nana Owusu-Nsiah praised the government for the provision of vehicles and other gadgets to facilitate the operations of the service.

He announced the promotion of 97-Sergeants who have been on the rank for 17 years and 201 Inspectors who have not been promoted since 1989.

Nana Owusu Nsiah was accompanied by five officers. He also paid a courtesy call on the Regional Minister and the Omanhene of Essikadu traditional area, Nana Kobina Nketsia IV.
