IGP to help A-G fish out dubious officers

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has given his firm commitment to help prosecute officers found culpable of financial infractions in the Auditor-General’s report.

This follows persistent complaints from the public, including the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), about the lack of criminal and civil actions brought against those caught violating financial laws of the country.

Speaking before the Committee Tuesday April 19, Mr Kudalor said he would hand over those indicted in the AG’s report to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the police service for investigations.

“I did not know of this until we had that meeting and the Auditor-General has promised to furnish us with the list of all the cases and I am going to bring them all to the CID headquarters,” he promised.

“…I already have a task force at the CID headquarters that investigates such cases of national interest. So, I will bring all of them to the CID headquarters for the team to investigate”.

The Chairman of PAC, Mr Kweku Agyemang Manu added that the committee will furnish the IGP with the cases of financial infractions involving police officers, as captured by the Auditor-General’s report, so they could be investigated.
