IGP special operations arrest six in Ashaiman

A combined team of policemen from Accra and Tema led by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Mohammed Alhassan, on Thursday arrested six persons, including a lady, during special operations within Tema and Ashaiman.

Four of them were suspected to be members of a car snatching syndicate.

The Police also retrieved Police uniforms and a quantity of Indian hemp seeds from two other suspects.

Speaking to newsmen after the operation, the IGP said the surprise operation followed recent armed robbery incidents within Tema and Ashaiman, and was aimed at clamping down on the nefarious activities of criminals in the area.

He assured Ghanaians that such operations would not be a nine-day-wonder, but would be intensified and sustained to ensure absolute peace in the country.

The IGP was accompanied by some senior police officers including Mr John Kudalor, Commissioner of Police in-charge of Operations and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Maxwell Atinganne, Tema Regional Police Commander.
