IEA, UNDP seeking to enhance election 2012

The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme is planning to embark on activities to enhance election 2012 towards the promotion of democracy in Ghana.

The event being organised on the theme: “Strengthening the Capacity of Female Candidates for Election 2012,” seeks to deepen good governance and increase the participation of women in all aspects of Ghana’s political process.

These are contained in a statement signed by Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa, IEA Executive Director, copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Friday.

It said the workshop would identify the capacity needs of female parliamentary aspirants, and equip them with adequate tools to enable them to campaign effectively for election 2012 and beyond.

The statement explained that the Institute intended to host a number of capacity building workshops for the aspirants in the run-up to election 2012. It said the first in the series of the workshop is slated for Thursday, August 23 at the IEA conference room.
